The final score from Oscar winning composer Nino Rota
Varèse Sarabande will release a limited release compact disc version of the HURRICANE – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on August 24, 2018. This soundtrack is making it’s debut on CD and is the the final score of composer Nino Rota, who died two days before the movie’s premiere.
Hurricane is Dino De Laurentiis’ epic 1979 romance and adventure film featuring Mia Farrow and Jason Robards, produced by Laurentiis and Lorenzo Semple, Jr., and directed by Jan Troell. Loosely based on John Ford’s 1937 film by the same name, Laurentiis’ Hurricane was filmed entirely on the exotic South Seas island of Bora Bora featuring an all-star cast and impressive special effects. This is a touching story of the desperate love affair between a young Samoan chief (Dayton Ka’ne) and a beautiful American painter (Mia Farrow), against the will of her father (Jason Robards), the powerful governor of the island. Amid this man-made tension comes a powerful hurricane so devastating, the lives of the lovers and the entire island are imperiled. Sven Nykvist’s brilliant cinematography showcases both the beautiful island splendor and the catastrophic destruction of Hurricane.
