MovieScore Media released a soundtrack album for the 2025 western drama feature film THE WAR BETWEEN, with original music compsoed by Dennis Dreith (The Punisher, Purple People Eater, Party Camp, Creep Van).
Directed by Deborah Correa, starring Damian Conrad-Davis, Sam Bullington and Wayne Charles Baker and distributed by TriCoast Worldwide, the story takes us in Arizona territory. During the opening months of the Civil War, April 1862, two enemy soldiers must cooperate in order to survive being stranded in the Sonoran Desert.
“Since my childhood, I have been in love with stories about the Old West and the Civil War. In fact, one of my guilty pleasures as a kid was sneaking off to the local cinema to catch the latest John Wayne movie. It was there that I first became aware of the impact of a score and was both fascinated and curious about how such movie magic was created. Consequently, when I was first contacted by The War Between writer/producer Ron Yungul about writing the score for his Civil War film set in the Arizona Territory, I immediately jumped at the chance. Working with first-time film makers can be quite a challenge, but also exhilarating in that it is an opportunity to expose them to what music can do for a film. In this case the film makers had a specific idea of what they wanted to create which aligned with my vision as well. What came out of that collaboration was a combination of Aaron Copland meets Earl Klugh and a nod the classic film scores of the westerns of a bygone era. It was important to me and the film makers that we utilized a live score and to that end we assembled the finest musicians in Los Angeles who performed superbly. I hope you enjoy listening to the score as much as I did composing it.” – Dennis Dreith
