Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the indie coming-of-age drama A Light Beneath Their Feet. The album features the film’s original music composed by John Swihart (How I Met Your Mother, Napoleon Dynamite, Youth in Revolt, New in Town). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 13, 2016.
A LIGHT BENEATH THEIR FEET stars 2015 SAG Award-winning actress Taryn Manning as a young mother with bipolar disorder struggling with the looming departure of her daughter, the one force of stability in her life. Madison Davenport gives a breakout performance as a daughter struggling with the decision whether to stay local for college where she can remain the stable rock in her mother’s life, or to detach and go to her dream college across country. Kurt Fuller, Nora Dunn, Kali Hawk, Maddie Hasson, and Carter Jenkins give standout supporting performances.
Grammy Nominated musician composer, John Swihart has written music for over 40 films and 20 Television shows. Raised in Bloomington Indiana, John started his studies at age 5 at Indiana University. Swihart would leave Indiana to attend the renowned Berklee College of Music, in Boston, where he majored in composition and production and engineering. He is a multi instrumentalist who performs many of the tracks on his scores. After years of performing in numerous bands, experimental performances such as Blue Man Group, studio session work as a guitar player, and remixer with local DJ’s. John moved to Los Angeles and into writing and producing music for picture.
