Netflix Music released digitally today the soundtrack album for the Netflix original series Man on Fire.
Based on A.J. Quinnell’s book series, Man on Fire tells the story of John Creasy. Once a high-functioning and skilled Special Forces Mercenary, known for surviving even the most desolate of situations, Creasy is now plagued with intense PTSD. Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.
From the world of high-stakes action and emotional depth comes the MAN ON FIRE (Soundtrack from the Netflix Series ), with music by composer Max Aruj, available everywhere now. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Max Aruj (Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, The Ice Road, Crawl, Mech Cadets, iBoy, Lansky, The Tank), delivering a gripping and emotionally charged sonic landscape. Aruj blends propulsive action and restrained emotion, combining orchestral writing with Brazilian-inspired textures. Subtle vocal and percussion elements inform the sound and help shape its distinctive character.
Across the series, the music reinforces both the intensity and emotional stakes, with episode seven highlighting an extended, continuous musical approach.
To build a unique sound world, Aruj collaborated with Brazilian vocalist Maroka Paris and percussionist Ayuri Olivera, fusing regional textures with Western orchestration. The score also features orchestra sessions in Budapest and custom instrumentation, adding depth and authenticity to its sound. Episode seven stands out as a particularly ambitious installment, featuring a “wall-to-wall” musical showcase.
Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Creasy, alongside Billie Boullet, Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy, Bobby Cannavale, and Paul Ben-Victor, the series brings a fresh interpretation to the iconic story. The series is now streaming on Netflix.
MAX ARUJ notes, “Composing the score for Man on Fire was an absolute joy. The visionary team at Netflix gave me the opportunity to explore bold and vibrant ideas and to stretch the boundaries of a traditional action score. I dove head first into the rich musical culture of Brazilian music and drew heavily on its influences to create a score that I hope will stick with listeners as they follow John Creasy through his journey of loss, trauma, sacrifice, and redemption.”
