Varèse Sarabande is releasing two exciting LP releases this September. Just in time for college football season, RUDY (Jerry Goldsmith) has been released on vinyl for the first time. Also making its first appearance on vinyl is the original score from SCREAM and SCREAM 2 by composer Marco Beltrami, to be released on September 16, 2016.
Two versions of Jerry Goldsmith’s classic score for RUDY will be released on 180-gram vinyl. The first version (limited edition 3000 units) features an “Irish Gold” colored albums in tribute to Notre Dame’s iconic football helmet, while a second version, exclusive to Collector’s Choice (800 units) features the LP in classic “Shamrock Green” in tribute to the school’s Irish roots. The inner sleeve and jacket include many Notre Dame images of campus and team and a note from Rudy himself. The album released on the first weekend of the 2016 college football season.
The original Scream 1&2 score soundtracks will be released on 180-gram vinyl, complete with incredible new cover art and label to modernize this classic horror property. The first version is presented on “Bone White” colored vinyl, making it an instant collector’s item and gift for Halloween 2016. FYE will also carry a limited edition version (1500 units) on “Blood Splattered” vinyl, also being released on September 16, 2016.
Scream is the most popular horror film franchise of all time, and the first three movies released between 1996 and 2000 rewrote the book for a new generation of slasher film aficionados. A 4th scream movie was released in 2011 and MTV followed with a new Scream based TV show in 2015 that is currently in its second season. The iconic “Ghostface” character is front and center of the all new cover art which re-tells the classic opening to the Scream film; the house and tree in the background, the knife extending into a phone receiver, the dial in Ghostface’s mouth. The phone motif is vividly carried over to the LP labels. The music from the Scream franchise was instrumental in launching the career of Marco Beltrami, who is now one of the most popular composers in Hollywood.
