Good news for all fans of games and adventures of the famous Geralt of Rivia. CD PROJEKT RED received the title of FMF Ambassador 2018, and the Video Games Music Gala will feature a suite from The Witcher 3.

A special version of the suite was premiered during this year’s FIMUCITÉ Festival in Tenerife. Marcin Przybyłowicz, composer and musical director of CD PROJEKT RED, was a guest at the festival. After the warm welcome in Tenerife, this incredible piece will make its way to TAURON Arena Kraków for the upcoming edition of FMF. Solo parts will be performed by Ania Karwan, who is well-known to the festival audience, and other notable guests at the gala will include the suite composers: Piotr Musiał, Marcin Przybyłowicz and Mikołaj Stroiński.

The Film Music Festival is one of the most important events of its kind in the world. It is made possible by many supporters and institutions. The most distinguished have been granted the title of FMF Ambassadors since 2014. We are happy to announce that by decision of the Programming Board, the winner of FMF Ambassador 2018 is the CD PROJEKT RED studio. The statuette will be presented at a ceremony on 2 June during the Video Games Music Gala.

“Thanks to the popularity of The Witcher 3, we not only promote Polish culture, creativity and an outstanding interdisciplinary story, but also have an excellent opportunity to promote Polish music worldwide” – notes Robert Piaskowski, Artistic Director of the Film Music Festival in Krakow.

The Programming Board appreciated the contribution of CD PROJEKT RED to promoting ambitious music compositions around the world, the studio’s share in boosting the importance of Polish artists internationally, and in increasing the FMF rank in the video games industry.

The Witcher is one of the greatest success stories in the Polish gaming industry with its hero, created by Andrzej Sapkowski, now being among the most recognisable and popular characters in the field. The first Witcher game was released in 2007 and initiated the CD PROJEKT RED international success.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings suite composed by Adam Skorupa and Krzysztof Wierzynkiewicz was first performed during the 4. edition of FMF in Krakow. The latest part of the computer game saga – The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – was released by the CD PROJEKT RED studio in May 2015; involving the work of 1500 people and a production cost of over 300 million zlotys. The game sold six million copies in its first six weeks of release, while Marcin Przybyłowicz is the most frequently streamed Polish composer on Spotify. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt concert recorded during the 9. FMF edition is available for purchase in digital version, e.g. on YouTube.

Other FMF Ambassador Award winners from recent years include: Nancy Knutsen (2014) – John Williams’s long-term assistant representing the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Diego Navarro (2015) – a great friend of the festival, composer, director of the Fimucité Festival in Tenerife, Professor Daniel Carlin (2016) from the Southern California University – an expert and a role-model for young artists, and Robert Townson (2017) – one of the most prolific film music producers in the world, the founder of the renowned Varèse Sarabande label.
