It started as a series of performances that evolved into an outstanding band. Now for the first time ever, Wordless Music Orchestra is coming to Athens for two unique performances at the Stavros Niarchos Hall of the Greek National Opera.

Wordless Music Orchestra was founded in 2006 by Ronen Givony and has performed since in museums, churches, nightclubs and in open spaces, bringing together musicians of different music genres such as classical, electronic and rock. The orchestra often combines its performances with film screenings, which is also what will happen in the Summer Nostos Festival.

The Greek audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the screening of the movies Jackie and Under the Skin, with a live performance of the movies’ scores, both created by renowned composer Mica Levi.

Jackie is an intimate portrait of one of the most important and tragic moments in American history, seen through the eyes of the iconic First Lady, then Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (Natalie Portman). Jackie places us in her world during the days immediately following her husband’s assassination.

Under the Skin is a science fiction film starring Scarlett Johansson as a carnivorous alien who hunts down men-preys in Scotland’s isolated highways.

Ξεκίνησε ως σειρά παραστάσεων, εξελίχθηκε σε ένα εξαιρετικό μουσικό σύνολο και τώρα ταξιδεύει για πρώτη φορά στην Ελλάδα για δύο μοναδικές παραστάσεις στην Αίθουσα Σταύρος Νιάρχος της Εθνικής Λυρικής Σκηνής.

Η Wordless Music Orchestra ιδρύθηκε από τον Ronen Givony το 2006 και έκτοτε έχει πραγματοποιήσει συναυλίες σε μουσεία, εκκλησίες, κλαμπ αλλά και σε εξωτερικούς χώρους, φέρνοντας κοντά μουσικούς ετερόκλητων ειδών όπως η κλασσική, η ηλεκτρονική και η ροκ. Συχνά συνδυάζει τη μουσική με την προβολή ταινιών, κάτι που θα συμβεί και στο Summer Nostos Festival.

Το ελληνικό κοινό θα έχει την ευκαιρία να απολαύσει την προβολή των ταινιών Jackie και Under the Skin, με ζωντανή εκτέλεση από την Wordless Music Orchestra των ορχηστρικών κομματιών της μουσικής τους επένδυσης, δημιουργημάτων της διακεκριμένης συνθέτριας Mica Levi.

Η ταινία Jackie αποτελεί ένα ιδιαίτερο πορτρέτο μίας από τις σημαντικότερες και τραγικότερες στιγμές της Αμερικανικής ιστορίες, μέσα από τα μάτια της τότε Πρώτης Κυρίας, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (την υποδύεται η Natalie Portman). H ταινία εξερευνά τον κόσμο της τις μέρες που ακολούθησαν τη δολοφονία του συζύγου της.

Η ταινία Under the Skin (Κάτω από το Δέρμα), είναι ένα φιλμ επιστημονικής φαντασίας στο οποίο πρωταγωνιστεί η Scarlett Johansson στον ρόλο ενός σαρκοφάγου εξωγήινου όντος το οποίο περιπλανώμενο στους απομονωμένους αυτοκινητόδρομους της Σκωτίας αναζητά άνδρες-θηράματα.
