The Putin Interviews Four-Part Documentary Series Premieres on SHOWTIME June 12th

Composer Jeff Beal (House Of Cards, An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth To Power) is proud to announce his first collaboration with Academy Award®-winning director Oliver Stone on The Putin Interviews.

“There are few filmmakers I admire as much as Oliver Stone,” said Beal.  “His fearless approach in tackling tough subjects is legendary, artistic and provocative.  I am honored to be composing the score for The Putin Interviews

for him.  In a time of such political noise and anxiety, this series gives us a timely view into a world we’ve never seen, from the inside-out.”

Oscar®-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone was granted unprecedented access to Russian president Vladimir Putin during more than a dozen interviews over two years, with no topic off-limits. This remarkable four-part documentary series provides intimate insight into Putin’s personal and professional lives, from his childhood under communism, to his rise to power, his relations with four U.S. presidents, and his surprising takes on U.S.-Russian relations today. Witness the most detailed portrait of Putin ever granted to a Western interviewer.

The Putin Interviews will its world television premiere on SHOWTIME over four consecutive nights starting on Monday, June 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

About Jeff Beal
It’s no coincidence that Jeff Beal’s film music career began to take off with his work on the acclaimed film POLLOCK (2000). Beal writes, orchestrates, conducts, mixes and often performs on his own scores – no other artist’s brushstrokes touch his canvas. As an accomplished jazz musician, Beal uses his improvisation skills to read the emotional tone of a scene and compose music on the spot. “This process allows me to set up a world where anything can happen, but you don’t see it coming.”

A four-time EMMY® winner, Beal’s approach is a favorite for more sophisticated works. His TV credits include HBO’s ROME, CARNIVÀLE and the Netflix series HOUSE OF CARDS. His documentary work includes BLACKFISH, WEINER, THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES, AN INCONVENIENT SEQUEL: TRUTH TO POWER, which premiered at Sundance and will be in theaters in July, and BOSTON the recently released documentary about the history of the Boston Marathon.  Jeff’s upcoming film projects include SHOCK AND AWE (directed by Rob Reiner).

Jeff conducted The National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in the premiere of HOUSE OF CARDS in CONCERT (represented by Columbia Artists Management), with further performances in Miami, The Netherlands and Denmark.  He also led the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra for the premiere of BLACKFISH live-to-picture. This May several of his pieces were performed including “The Salvage Men” by The Apollo Chorus (Chicago), the Brooklyn Youth Chorus premiered his piece “The Firebrand” at BAM, and Oregon Ballet Theatre premiered the ballet Terra, choreographed by Helen Pickett.
