Shiver is an award-winning horror-thriller starring Danielle Harris (Hatchet II and III), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers) and John Jarratt (Wolf Creek). The film follows the ordeal of Wendy Alden (Harris), a young secretary lacking in self-esteem who becomes the target of a savage killer but, somehow, finds the courage to fight back and escape. Obsessed with killing Wendy, the brilliant psychopath Franklin Rood (Jarratt) stays one step ahead of pursuing Detective Delgado (Van Dien), circling ever closer to the target of his deranged fantasies. Wendy confronts the monster of her living nightmare with her own desperate, indomitable will to survive.
Composer Richard Band has a long history of providing thrilling scores for horror films, many of which were presented previously on the Intrada label. One of his latest works is to Robert Weinbach’s 2012 film Shiver. As Weinback states, “His lushly orchestrated music evokes intense emotional responses of pathos, suspense and terror, conveying a special style and tone to the film. It further underscores the portrayal of character traits not altogether obvious from other elements of the film.” Band was Weinbach’s first and only choice to score Shiver. More melodic and colorful than your usual horror music fare these days, Band has created a fresh score that should please his followers.
