Work of orchestrators and arrangers is very often underrated. But these professionals are standing behind the sound of many popular soundtracks. “Hidden Heroes: Orchestrators and Arrangers” was a featured panel discussion at the Film Music Prague Festival that took place on Saturday, February 2, 2019.

Moderated by film music journalist and the festival’s Head of Industry, Eleni Mitsiaki who welcomed professional orchestrators and arrangers Nikiforos Chrysoloras and Leigh Phillips to discuss the critical yet often underrated role of orchestrators and arrangers who craft the distinct sonic identities behind major Hollywood and television soundtracks. The discussion explored their inspirations, daily challenges, and what it is like to work with the legacy material of iconic film composers, specifically focusing on the music of Jerry Goldsmith.

The masterclass and panel program took place alongside a broader festival schedule that featured discussions with other industry professionals.
