Kinetophone is an independent editorial platform dedicated to film music and the wider world of screen music. Through reviews, interviews, essays and original features, it explores how music shapes storytelling across film, television, animation, video games and silent cinema.

Inspired by the historical Kinetophone—one of the earliest attempts to synchronize moving images and sound—it also celebrates silent film culture through the curation and analysis of newly composed scores for restored films.

The City Lights Archive preserves more than a decade of radio broadcasts dedicated to film music. Featuring interviews, thematic episodes and musical discoveries, the archive reflects the origins of Kinetophone and remains an important part of its history.
