With Original Music By Kasper Winding
Featuring “We’re Out There Somewhere” Performed by Graham Coxon of Blur

Varèse Sarabande Records released THE RIOT CLUB – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on November 17, 2014.  The soundtrack features original score by Kasper Winding (THE SALVATION, 63 REGARDS) and featuring “We’re Out There Somewhere” performed by Graham Coxon of Blur.

“We searched for a balance between electronic, acoustic sounds, and that Lone [Scherfig, director] wanted a quite melodic score,” described Winding. “We also discussed how English it should sound.  It’s easy to fall into the cliché when filming upper class kids in Oxford so we decided to start almost rococo with mock Mozart, and then make it more and more sinister as the film develops.”

Set amongst the privileged elite of Oxford University, THE RIOT CLUB follows Miles (Max Irons) and Alistair (Sam Claflin), two first year students determined to join the infamous Riot Club, where reputations can be made or destroyed over the course of a single evening.

“There were several scenes I scored first and those were the ones that signaled a gear shift in the film; the opening theme, Laura and Miles, Hugo and Miles, the initiation, the big speech, and the final restaurant scene,” explained Winding. “I created an extreme slow-motion version of the main theme, that replays at key points in the film to illustrate Alistair’s mood changes.”

Born in Copenhagen Denmar, Kasper Winding got his first professional job as a composer at 14 writing the score for the Danish film THE BEACH REVOLUTION the same year he joined the Danish radio orchestra as a drummer. Since then there has been no looking back, as he has released 11 records and has written 20 scores for film and television. Among them; THE FLYING DEVILS and COP by Anders Refn, EPIDEMIC by Lars von Trier, and FROM HEART TO HAND, THE PATRIOTS and P.O.V by Tomas Gislason. His recent projects include THE SALVATION by Kristian Levring. Winding has played the ode triangle or snare drum with musical artist such as; Phillip Glass, Barry White, Abba, Terry Reily, Entrance, The Rolling Stones, Frank Zappa.

THE RIOT CLUB is directed by Lone Scherfig, who most recently helmed ONE DAY, and the Best Picture Academy Award nominee AN EDUCATION. It is produced by Pete Czernin and Graham Broadbent of Blueprint Pictures (THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL, SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS). Screenwriter Laura Wade has adapted her critically-acclaimed play, POSH, with development support from the BFI Film Fund and Film4.  POSH premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 2010, before transferring to the West End.
